Artist Bio:
Christine Altman

Christine Altman is an artist living and working in Connecticut. The work takes the form of single-channel video and installation, sculpture, and site-specific art projects.  Her work has been exhibited in a range of venues including museums, galleries and film festivals nationally.

Starter Home is Ms. Altman’s first large-scale installation encompassing a single-family house. The venue is an integral part of the content of this site specific piece. Environmental psychology is addressed in Starter Home. The multi-dimensional installation embraces moments when one is both acutely aware of social constructs and puzzled by suddenly absurd rituals.

She received her BFA from Tufts University and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.  Ms. Altman is a 2004 recipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship from The Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism and a 2003/2004 intern under Sally Berger, Assistant Curator, Department of Film and Media, Museum of Modern Art, New York.
